Dale takes its name from a woolly mouse engineered by Colossal Biosciences, a biotechnology company focused on species revival. The mouse was revealed in a recent Mr Beast video filmed at Colossal’s lab, where he was shown animals created through CRISPR based genetic edits as part of the company’s mammoth revival pathway.
Colossal became widely known earlier for its work on dire wolves, an extinct species the company has publicly discussed bringing back through genetic engineering.
Elon Musk has previously engaged directly with Colossal’s work. In response to their de extinction efforts, he publicly asked the team to create a miniature pet woolly mammoth, highlighting interest in exactly the type of research that produced the woolly mouse.
In the Mr Beast video, he is shown interacting with the woolly mouse and explaining that it contains mammoth related DNA used for early experimentation.
Dale launched on Jan 24 and reached an ATH of $6.5M market cap, driven by renewed visibility around Colossal’s work and its prior association with high profile figures.
