The Bread Giver (CROW): A camera mounted on the roof of one of the buildings in Lima captured a gray cat so emaciated that you could see her ribs, lying motionless on her side atop the concrete for hours. At eight in the morning, a crow landed on the edge of the roof with a piece of bread in its beak. Crows don’t share their food with others, nor do they feed other animals, and according to what biologists know, the crow was supposed to eat the bread and leave. The crow approached the cat, placed the bread on the ground in front of her nose, then stepped back two paces, and stood there with its head tilted until the cat lifted her nose and began to eat. After seven minutes, the crow flew off and returned with another piece. The camera recorded it making the same trip four times in one hour, bringing bread from an unknown location, while the cat ate slowly, her head still pressed to the ground because she didn’t have the strength to stand. The next day, one of the neighbors reviewed the footage and went up to look for the cat. He found her sitting on the edge of the roof, gazing at the sky, with the crow standing about half a meter away, as if the two of them were waiting together for something only they knew. The cat is receiving treatment at a clinic, and the crow still appears on the house’s roof every morning at exactly eight o’clock, with a piece of bread it no longer has anyone to give it to.
