BABE RUTH 48 (BA.RUTH48): George Herman Ruth, nicknamed "The Child" and "The Sultan of Swat", aka Babe (Baltimore, February 6, 1895 – New York, August 16, 1948) He began his career as a left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox but had his greatest successes as an outfielder for the New York Yankees. Ruth set many MLB records at bat (and some as a pitcher), including all-time home runs (714), runs batted in (RBI) (2,213), walks (2,062) and bomber media (6,897), and on-base plus slugging (OPS) (1,164), the latter two of which stand to this day. Ruth is considered one of the greatest heroes of American sports culture and is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time. In 1936 Ruth was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of the inaugural five members.
