Rufus The Dog (Rufus): Rufus was one of Amazon's early employees. He belonged to Susan Benson, who was Amazon's first Managing Editor, and her husband Richard Benson, who was one of the first engineers at Amazon, most notably known for developing the "similarities" system which recommends books based on previously read books. Susan and Richard always brought their dog, Rufus, to work with them. He was affectionately named Amazon's "shortest volunteer worker." Rufus passed away May 27, 2009, but his legacy lives on through Amazon. He shows up as a running dog chasing a ball on several help pages, and he was the driving force that led to them becoming a very "pet friendly workplace", and most recently, they even named their AI Shopping assistant Rufus AI, showing how they still to this day honor his legacy. Rufus AI has been trending a lot on X recently, so now is a great time to tokenize Amazon's unoffical mascot, Rufus!
