The first domino was a leveraged liquidations cascade that wiped out $8 billion in long positions in six hours. The bulls, now bleeding, panicked and tried to short the fall to “make it back.” They became what they hated most: bears… but worse. They were wounded bulls trying to wear bear costumes, still believing the next pump was one candle away. By September, the same accounts that posted rocket emojis and laser eyes were tweeting “told you so” charts with red arrows. The same people who said “bears make money in bear markets, bulls make history” were now bragging about shorting their own bags.
