Scientists just found a galaxy named Zhulong that existed when the universe was only about 1 billion years old. That means it formed just 7 percent into the life of the universe. Researchers revealed that this galaxy is 12 billion years old, looks just like our Milky Way. What shocked everyone is that it already had the same features as the Milky Way: a flat disk, spiral arms, and a bright center. It was also huge, stretching more than 60 thousand light years wide and holding over 100 billion stars. Most people thought galaxies took billions of years to become this well-formed. But Zhulong shows that some galaxies got their shape much faster than expected. Thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope, we can now see farther back in time than ever before. This discovery changes what we thought we knew about how galaxies grow. It tells us that even when the universe was young, some places were already forming stars and spinning into shape like our home galaxy.
