Once upon a time, in a forest, there was a fox who was famous… not because it was truly clever, but because it always thought it was smarter than everyone else. One day, the fox was hungry. It wandered around the forest and spotted a chicken standing on a high tree branch. The fox looked up and gave a “very intelligent” smile: “Hey, Miss Chicken, come down here for a moment. I want to talk.” The chicken glanced down: “Can we just talk from up here?” The fox shook its head: “No, we can’t. There’s a new rule in the forest. All animals must stand on the ground to… communicate equally.” The chicken raised an eyebrow: “Oh really? Who made that rule?” The fox calmly replied: “The forest authorities. It’s been in effect since this morning.” As the chicken was thinking, she suddenly looked into the distance and saw a pack of dogs running toward them. She said: “Oh, then those dogs over there must know about this rule too, right?” The fox froze: “What dogs?” The chicken pointed: “Over there. They’re running really fast.” The fox started to tremble a little: “Uh… yeah… they probably know…” The chicken pretended to be innocent: “Then why don’t I come down, and we wait for them together on the ground? They can confirm the rule for us.” Hearing that, the fox took off running as fast as it could. As it ran, it muttered: “Rules, my foot… I’m smart, not stupid!” Up on the tree, the chicken laughed to herself: “Smart, sure… but only until it meets someone more aware.”
