I worked at AMC around 2010ish and I saw many sloppy messes just like this during my time there. Although there were many memorable stenches and splatters, there was one that made the others look like a dingleberry in the wind. That one dreary November afternoon that changed four peoples’ lives forever. It was a Tuesday and our theatre offered discounted movie tickets for the matinee. This attracted a motley crew of cheap parents with their kids, creepy single men in sweat pants, and of course senior citizens looking for an early bird special. Through the crowd from behind the desk I saw it, an entire greyhound full of wrinkled, liver spot covered baby boomers filed towards the building. They were all there for some remastered John Wayne or Clint Eastwood movie from the seventies and once the opening rush was cleared, me and my fellow workers sighed in relief. It wasn’t until an hour later we heard shouting from the remastered western where all the old folks were. And elderly man crashed through the door towards me and another employee saying, “help her, you gotta help her!” So we rushed to action but what we saw in there was something that no 20 minute AMC employee training video could prepare us for. There was a woman on the ground. A big woman. Probably about 85 with things dangling off her elbows that immediately brought memories of “What’s eating Gilbert Grape”. But the worst part was she had soiled herself. Badly. The only way to describe the scene would be it looked like a beached baluga with its entire bottom half of its body covered in its own sangria beef stew.
