Tori was a black rescue dog saved from the dog meat trade and adopted by former South Korean President Moon Jae-in in 2017.
He became South Korea's first rescue dog to live in the presidential Blue House and a powerful symbol of animal welfare.
President Moon publicly pushed for ending the dog meat industry, and Tori became a face of the movement that helped change how Koreans viewed dogs — not as food, but as family.
In 2024, South Korea finally passed legislation to end the dog meat trade, with the ban taking full effect in 2027.
Sadly, Tori passed away in February 2024, but his legacy lives on.
