Apu Apustaja, whose name is broken Finnish for "help helper," is a clumsy, good-natured version of Pepe the Frog. He began on the Finnish imageboard Ylilauta and spread through 4chan's /biz/ board, where Chainlink became one of the most memed coins from 2017 onward. Holders there, who called themselves "LINK Marines," made Apu their stand-in: a naive but loyal "fren" who keeps holding through every price drop, sure that Chainlink's decentralized data feeds, called oracles, will eventually win. His childlike optimism matched the community's own mix of irony and conviction, and he became Chainlink's unofficial meme mascot.
