BIP 39 Wordlist Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP 39) Your 12-24 recovery seed phrase or wallet backup most likely comes from the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal: 39 (BIP 39). BIP 39 is the use of a mnemonic phrase -- a group of easy to remember words -- to serve as your back up recovery in the event your wallet fails. Many wallets utilize the BIP 39 standard, but be aware it is not the only requirement to recover your coins. These words are pulled from a specific list of 2048 words. They can be found here or listed below. NOTE: Technically, the BIP 39 list has no numbering system. The immediate list below aligns with the default line numbering system utilized in GitHub (where it is hosted). If you are utilizing the indexed numbers for conversion into binary (for programming purposes that uses a zero-based numbering system), the list begins at “0” (abandon) and ends at “2047” (zoo).
