In a bold new initiative to bridge tradition and modernity, the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria has introduced a mascot named Elion (Αγάπη), meaning “Love” in Greek. Elion, a gentle yet majestic lion, was unveiled at a recent church event in Alexandria by Patriarch Theodore II, who shared the motivation behind this charming new symbol. “With Elion, we hope to connect our heritage with today’s world in a way that speaks to people of all ages, especially the younger generation,” he explained.
