The popcorn macaw, greatly loved by locals and with over 15,000 followers on Instagram, died after losing her ability to fly. The Civil Police investigated and found that a suspected couple was responsible for the mistreatment that led to the bird's death. Security cameras showed the couple carrying the macaw days before her death. Witnesses reported that they took Pipoca to a relative's house, where her wings were clipped. As a result, the bird was left exposed to the rain and unable to return to her shelter, where she had lived for over three years. Even after being taken to a vet by locals who found her debilitated, Pipoca did not survive. The suspects gave contradictory statements, claiming that the macaw had escaped. However, evidence revealed she was kept at the relative's house. The police concluded that the couple intended to keep the bird. They were charged with animal cruelty, questioned, and released. #JusticeForThePopcornMacaw
