$FLY
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began to take emergency measures against the dangerous parasitic larva of the carnivorous fly after it was discovered in Texas for the first time in decades, Bloomberg reports. The U.S. Department of Agriculture previously reported a second case of infection with the larvae of a carnivorous fly, the parasite was discovered in the country for the first time since 1966. Insect larvae penetrate the open wounds of animals and humans, feeding on their flesh. Without treatment, infection leads to death. According to the agency, the official emergency response regime was introduced on Thursday. The department plans to form a team of scientists to constantly monitor the situation and interact with local health authorities.
