Ferdinand the duck was, to put it mildly, miserable. He waddled onto the construction site, his webbed feet slapping against the uneven gravel, and let out a disgruntled quack. "Another day, another pile of bricks," he muttered to himself. Ferdinand, you see, was a construction worker. Not exactly the dream job for a duck, but his family had been in the business for generations. His grandfather had built the original duck pond, his father had expanded it with a charming little waterfall, and now, Ferdinand was tasked with... building a skyscraper. He spent his days lugging around heavy cement blocks, his feathers constantly getting dusted with a fine layer of concrete. His attempts at "flying" usually resulted in a spectacular crash into a pile of scaffolding. And don't even get him started on the lunch breaks. Forget the juicy worms and fresh pondweed; it was mostly stale bread and lukewarm water from a leaky thermos. One day, while struggling to lift a particularly stubborn beam, Ferdinand overheard a group of construction workers discussing the "impossible" task of installing a giant glass window on the top floor. "Impossible!" one of them scoffed. "No crane could reach that high!" Ferdinand, feeling a surge of unexpected inspiration, quacked, "Hold my beer." He flapped his wings furiously, gaining an impressive amount of altitude. He then carefully positioned himself above the window frame and, with a mighty push, shoved the massive pane of glass into place. The other workers stared in stunned silence. Ferdinand, beaming with pride, simply shrugged and waddled back to his cement mixing station. From that day on, Ferdinand was no longer just a "duck on a construction site." He was Ferdinand the Flying Duck, the unsung hero of the skyscraper project. And while he still longed for the days of leisurely pond swims, he couldn't deny that there was a certain satisfaction in proving that even a duck could soar above expectations (literally).
