Description

Panama took over full control of the canal on December 31, 1999. In 1903, the United States acquired the right to build and operate the canal in perpetuity. In 1977, the US and Panama signed the Carter-Torrijos Treaties, which set governing standards and guaranteed the canal's neutrality. The treaties went into effect in 1979. United states need to take it back!
