$GRANMA
A Perthshire schoolgirl has wowed Scots with her artistic skills after painting an amazing portrait of her grandmother. Strathallan School pupil Natalia painted the portrait as part of her GCSE Art coursework on the theme of Contrasts. Titled Life in Detail, Natalia’s artwork is an extreme close-up, hyper-realistic study of her grandmother’s face, with her eyes screwed up and lips puckered. The piece explores the tension between life and decay and focuses on the natural process of ageing as a testament to resilience, memory and identity. Natalia took a series of intimate photographic studies of her grandmother to capture the textures, lines and contours of her skin with meticulous attention.
