HANTA VIRUS

Hantavirus is a serious, often fatal respiratory or renal disease transmitted to humans primarily through inhaling aerosolized urine, droppings, or saliva from infected rodents. It causes two main types of severe illness—Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) (lung failure) and Haemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS) (kidney failure)—with mortality rates up to 50% for HPS in the Americas.
