Perman (パーマン / Pāman), often written as P-Man or Paaman, is the classic Fujiko F. Fujio superhero series. It’s about Mitsuo Suwa, a regular clumsy elementary school kid who gets chosen by an alien (Birdman/Superman) and receives: A helmet that gives him crazy strength A cape so he can fly A badge for communication + underwater breathing He has to keep his identity secret (or else bad things happen), so he uses a copy-robot that takes his place while he’s out saving the day. He teams up with other Perman members (including a monkey named Booby and a girl idol named Sumire who becomes Perman 3). There was a black-and-white anime in 1967 and a much more popular color remake that ran from 1983–1985 (over 500 episodes). It’s pure Fujiko-style kids comedy mixed with superhero stuff — the same creator as Doraemon.
