온처니 (ONCHEONI) 🇰🇷🦦 — Busan’s Viral Otter 온처니 (Oncheoni) is the nickname given by Koreans to the Eurasian otter family living around Oncheon Stream in Busan, South Korea. In early October 2026, videos of an otter swimming near people along the stream’s walking paths began going viral across Korean social media. Soon after, footage of a mother otter with her pups brought even more attention to the family, turning them into a new sensation. The name 온처니 follows the same naming style as 부캉이 (Bukangi), the shark that made headlines after becoming trapped in Busan’s North Port earlier this year. North Port has Bukangi. Oncheon Stream has Oncheoni. While Bukangi captured attention as a stranded shark, Oncheoni represents something different. Eurasian otters have lived around the stream for years, and their recent viral appearances have reminded people that remarkable wildlife can exist right in the middle of a busy city. The Eurasian otter is a Class I endangered species in South Korea and is designated Natural Monument No. 330. Its presence around Oncheon Stream is an encouraging sign for the local environment and the wildlife that calls it home. What started as ordinary wildlife sightings has become another chapter in Busan’s growing animal lore, connecting two unexpected animal celebrities through the same city. Bukangi made waves at the port. Oncheoni is making a splash in the stream. And Busan’s animal lore continues to grow. 🇰🇷
