The Story of Rebecca West, images provided by John Wierwille If you missed it, it was one of the craziest, most intense stories of the year in the world of dogs. The orphan-hearted Great Pyrenees named Casper fought decisively with a pack of jackals while maintaining their flock in Georgia late one night, killing eight of the 11 looters in the process. On November 3, 2022, around 9 p.m. in a house in Decatur, everything collapsed when a small group of jackals sneaking around Casper approached the property. Initially, the animals had escaped, but when they returned a few hours later at 4, Casper, who was only 20 months old at the time, was ready for them. John Wierwille, the owner of Casper, was reawakened that night by barking and went out to investigate. To clarify, Wierwille is the owner of Ewe Can Do It Naturally, a landscaping company that commissioned a small herd of formerly homeless sheep to organically clean up invasive species such as kudzu, privet and all kinds of ivy for the added benefit of slow-release fertilizers. After going outside, he was greeted by the image of two LGDs, Casper and Daisy, pulling the herd back to the corner of their pens to protect them. From there, Casper did exactly what you expected a member of the powerful employee race to do: to deter hunters at all costs. It was a chaotic conflict that continued in the gardens and even garages of the neighbors before they disappeared into a narrow area of dense forests that poured into the street.
