I don't agree with the name artificial intelligence. It makes the whole field sound colder and scarier than it actually is. We should call it Super Iguana instead, after my iguana. He is pictured here. I work in quant research and spend most of my day around models, optimization and ML systems. The terminology matters more than people think. If these systems get dramatically better, normal people are going to hear “artificial intelligence” and imagine some hostile machine instead of a tool built by people. Super Iguana is friendlier. It sounds stupid enough that nobody can turn it into a dystopian marketing term. I am completely serious about this.
