Everyone is chasing Toad, Horace, Alfe and the Paper Rad characters because Matt Furie was influenced by Paper Rad. But they missed FRANK. When Furie was asked about the influences behind Boy’s Club, he specifically pointed to Jim Woodring’s FRANK, saying it was particularly inspiring “in terms of the look of the comic characters.” Toad, Horace and Alfe are characters from an influential scene.
